There is no greater threat to a
contractor's business than the loss of his or her tools and
equipment. Without their tools and equipment, contractors, in an
instant, become sidelined and unable to engage in their
livelihoods. To help professional contractors better protect
mobile assets on jobsites, DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of
industrial power tools, developed the MOBILELOCK™ GPS Locator
and Anti-Theft Alarm that features state-of-the-art locating
capabilities. The MOBILELOCK™ product is a stand alone,
portable, wireless locating and alarm system that is easily
mounted to equipment using integrated heavy-duty magnets or
fastening the unit into place using screws. Unlike other mobile
asset protection systems that use radio frequency to locate
stolen assets, MOBILELOCK™ features a GPS locator that can help
users find stolen or lost assets in real time.
The four sensors built into the MOBILELOCK unit, tamper sensor,
door contact sensor, vibration sensor and temperature sensor,
can be programmed individually through a phone or the MOBILELOCK™
website to monitor the mobile asset. If an intruder tries to
enter a secured area, disturb a piece of protected equipment, or
remove the unit from the asset, the alarm activates and a signal
is sent over the cellular network.
If the MOBILELOCK™ protected asset is disturbed, the alarm is
triggered and the user receives a phone call, text message or
email notifying them that there has been a security breach. The
user can log onto the MOBILELOCK™ website, enter their personal
pass code and then access street maps or satellite imagery
showing the approximate location of the MOBILELOCK™ unit. This
enables users to quickly recover stolen or lost assets.

Features of the MobileLock Sensors:
TAMPER SENSOR
The tamper sensor is on the back of the MOBILELOCK unit. It is
used to notify when someone has tampered with the security
system.
IMPORTANT: The tamper sensor will provide notification that the
MOBILELOCK unit has been removed from the mounting surface even
when the unit is disarmed. The sensor can be deactivated on the
website or phone menu system.
VIBRATION SENSOR
The vibration sensor detects vibration on a metal container or
movement of heavy equipment. The sensitivity setting is
adjustable with 8 being the most sensitive and 1 being the least
sensitive. The false alarm filter assists in blocking out false
alarms associated with thunder claps, accidental bumping,
objects falling on the equipment or container, etc. The false
alarm filter has a high, medium, and off setting.
IMPORTANT: When testing, check for both the strength of the
vibration and the number of times the vibration occurs. The
false alarm filter looks for multiple vibrations over a short
period of time and may require a series of vibrations to trip
the sensor. After an alarm from the vibration sensor, the sensor
is turned off for 15 minutes.
DOOR CONTACT SENSOR
The door contact sensor detects an open door. If the door is
open when the MOBILELOCK unit is armed or a closed door is
opened when the MOBILELOCK unit is armed, an alarm will occur.
After an alarm from the door contact sensor, the sensor is
turned off for 15 minutes. Door Contact Magnet Placement Diagram
Place the magnet on the opposite side of the door jam no more
than 3/8" (9.5 mm) from the left side of the MOBILELOCK unit.
TEMPERATURE SENSOR
The temperature sensor detects when the temperature rises above
or drops below the pre-set temperature threshold. The MOBILELOCK
unit has both a high temperature sensor and a low temperature
sensor. The temperature range is 0°F–122°F (-17 °C–50 °C). The
high temperature sensor is not to be used for fire protection.
NOTE: The temperature reading is approximate. The temperature
reading will be ignored at times when the MOBILELOCK unit is in
a state known to change its internal temperature (battery
charging, etc).
After an alarm from the temperature sensor, the sensor is turned
off for 60 minutes. If the temperature of the environment still
exceeds the temperature range selected after 60 minutes, another
alarm will be sent. This will continue until the MOBILELOCK unit
is disarmed.
MOTION DETECTOR SENSOR
The motion detector is available in the DS510K combo kit. It
detects movement of heat sources in an enclosed area. The motion
detector has a range of 50 feet.
IMPORTANT: Once an alarm condition is signaled, further alarms
are inhibited until no motion is sensed for a period of more
than 90 seconds. This feature is designed to conserve battery
life by ignoring the normal occurrence of motion throughout the
day.

Police Department Uses MOBILELOCK™ to Track and Recover
$237,500.00 in Stolen Construction Equipment in Less Than Two
Months.
In Febraury 2007, the Will County Sheriff’s Department of
Illinois along with the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force
combined resources to address a widespread issue typically
overlooked – jobsite theft. The task force implemented three
MOBILELOCK units to identify areas of frequent jobsite theft,
capture the thieves and recover the stolen assets. Within two
months of using the MOBILELOCK units, the task force caught nine
thieves and recovered approximately $237,500.00 in stolen heavy
construction equipment.
